VIJAYAWADA (India CSR): In an inspiring tribute to the late Tulsi Tanti, Suzlon Group has partnered with the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) to unveil India’s largest Green Skill Development Program. This ambitious initiative aims to bridge the skill gap in the renewable energy sector by training 12,000 youth, including 3,000 women, over the next four years.

The program is designed to create a future-ready workforce with expertise in wind power manufacturing, covering areas such as Electrical, Mechanical, Blade Technology, Material Management, Operations & Maintenance, and Land & Liaisoning.

Building a Skilled, Diverse Workforce

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) reflects Suzlon’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development. By prioritizing diversity and enhancing employability, the program aims to:

  • Provide specialized training for youth in collaboration with ITIs, polytechnics, and engineering colleges.
  • Develop a curriculum aligned with global standards and tailored to grassroots educational institutions.
  • Establish strategic university partnerships to promote advanced research and practical learning in renewable energy.

Key Quotes from Visionaries

Speaking at the launch, Nara Lokesh, Minister for IT & Human Resources Development, remarked:

“Our goal is to create 2 million local jobs in the next five years, fostering entrepreneurship and increasing incomes for economically disadvantaged families. This program will uplift underserved communities and position Andhra Pradesh as a leader in renewable energy talent.”

JP Chalasani, CEO of Suzlon Group, reflected on the visionary legacy of Shri Tulsi Tanti:

“Shri Tanti often dreamed of establishing a university dedicated to renewable energy. This initiative transforms that vision into reality, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a hub for skilled talent export in the global renewable energy market.”

Establishing Learning Hubs for Practical Training

Suzlon’s Chief Human Resource Officer, Rajendra Mehta, highlighted the hands-on approach of the initiative:

“Suzlon will lead the creation of ‘Learning Labs’ at five strategic locations across Andhra Pradesh. These labs will offer 3- to 12-month training programs that blend classroom learning with practical, on-site experience. They will also serve as career hubs for job placements, fostering a sustainable workforce for the future.”

A Vision for a Green India

This initiative underscores the need for skilled professionals in the renewable energy sector as India accelerates its transition to a sustainable future. By empowering local communities and fostering gender diversity, the program will help develop a robust talent pool capable of driving the nation’s renewable energy ambitions.

Why This Matters

You might be wondering, “Why is green skill development so important?” The renewable energy sector is one of the fastest-growing industries, requiring a skilled workforce to meet the demand for clean energy solutions. Initiatives like this not only address the employability gap but also help mitigate climate change by creating jobs that support sustainable growth.

Driving Progress, Honoring Legacy

The collaboration between Suzlon and Andhra Pradesh signifies a powerful step toward realizing Tulsi Tanti’s vision of a self-reliant and green India. As this program unfolds, it promises to inspire other states to adopt similar initiatives, creating a ripple effect of positive change.
