BENGALURU (India CSR): In a significant move to augment healthcare services in Karnataka, Infosys Foundation, the CSR wing of Infosys, has announced a collaborative venture with the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Services, Karnataka.
The initiative includes setting up a 100-bed maternity and child care hospital within the existing Taluk General Hospital in Kunigal Taluk, Tumakuru district. With an allocated grant of INR 55 crore, the project is poised to deliver advanced healthcare amenities to thousands of families in rural areas.
Filling the Healthcare Gap in Rural Areas
The hospital aims to offer comprehensive healthcare services to approximately 30,000 mothers and children annually. Families in Kunigal Taluk and neighboring regions will benefit from a range of services, including quality diagnostic tests, surgical treatments, ante and post-natal care, as well as emergency obstetric management, neonatal and paediatric services.
A Continuation of Ongoing Commitment
This new initiative is an extension of Infosys Foundation’s longstanding commitment to rural healthcare and social development. Previously, the foundation successfully constructed a similar 100-bed maternity and child healthcare hospital in Kanakapura Taluk, Ramanagara District. They also aided in creating a new 350-bed block for Jayadeva Hospital in Bengaluru, specializing in cardiac care for underprivileged patients.
