Jindal Sports Hostel Inaugurated at Barbil to Nurture Rural Talents
BHUBANESWAR: The pioneering Jindal Sports Hostel, a project by Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) Foundation, was inaugurated today by Naveen Jindal, Chairman of Jindal Steel & Power, and Shallu Jindal, Chairperson of the JSP Foundation. Situated in Soyabali, Keonjhar District, the hostel aims to foster rural sports talents, providing top-notch residential amenities for 60 handpicked children.
Promoting Holistic Development
The facility, according to Shri Jindal, represents an initiative to empower underprivileged youths, instilling discipline and teamwork while nurturing their sports and academic abilities. The vision is to shape them into future champions and leaders for India.
“Sports is about discipline, hard work, and teamwork, it is about developing character and learning to overcome challenges. This sports hostel reflects our commitment to provide opportunities for young people from underprivileged backgrounds to excel in sports and education. It is a place where they can be provided with holistic nourishment to learn and grow,” said Sri Jindal in his address.”

Shallu Jindal emphasized the hostel’s role as a platform for equitable education and sports development, promising comprehensive support for the tribal-majority region’s children to excel in their respective fields.
Smt. Jindal said, “We believe that education and sports are essential for the development of youths. This hostel is another step forward by JSP Foundation towards creating a more prosperous and equitable India by providing equitable opportunities to underprivileged students. The hostel will nurture the sports and education career of residents by providing them with the best of the facilities, nutrition, coaching, schooling and skilling”.
She assured all the children of the tribal predominant region of Barbil with all-round support in the field of sports and education to grow in their respective fields.

Echoing the Odisha Government’s focus on sports infrastructure development, the hostel is equipped with state-of-the-art amenities and comprehensive training facilities, ensuring the students’ overall physical well-being.

Local community members and JSP senior officials partook in the inaugural ceremony, reinforcing a sense of collective engagement towards nurturing Keonjhar District’s young sports talents.
JSP Foundation has been supporting and promoting youths of Keonjhar District to play Wushu & Kickboxing sports, forms of martial arts.
