SST is taking positive steps towards encouraging the sparrow population to thrive in Tamil Nadu
CHENNAI (India CSR): March 20th is celebrated as World Sparrow Day, and Srinivasan Services Trust (SST) is proud to continue its efforts towards sparrow conservation. SST is the social arm of TVS Motor Company and Sundaram-Clayton Limited, and it has drawn up an action plan to create awareness about sparrow conservation and is taking multiple initiatives to curb the decline in sparrow populations. SST’s efforts towards sparrow conservation are commendable and show the organisation’s dedication to preserving biodiversity. By identifying villages and areas for sparrow nesting and distributing customised nesting boxes, SST is taking positive steps towards encouraging the sparrow population to thrive in Tamil Nadu.
Sparrow nesting boxes in around 100 villages
Till date, SST has already distributed sparrow nesting boxes in around 100 villages. The organisation’s conservation efforts have already shown positive results, with many of these boxes providing homes to the sparrow population in these areas.
Identifying villages and areas for sparrow nesting
SST has identified villages and areas where the sparrows can nest and has procured thousands of customised nests. These nesting boxes will be kept on the top of windows outside the house with some feed or at nearby rooftops to invite sparrows. SST has already disseminated sparrow nesting boxes in villages.
Positive results from conservation efforts
