Synopsis of the Story

Rasna founder Areez Khambatta awarded Padma Shri posthumously, know his story – Rasna founder Areez Khambatta awarded Padma Shri posthumously know his struggle

New Delhi: Ariz Khambhat, founder and chairman of Rasna Group has been announced to be awarded the Padma Shri posthumously. He has been awarded in the trade and industry category of Gujarat. Ariz Khambatha, founder and chairman of Rasana Group, passed away on 19 November 2022 at the age of 85. Ariz Khambatha took the domestic beverage brand Rasana to 60 countries.

This award has been given to him in the trade and industry category of Gujarat. Ariz Khambhat, founder and chairman of Rasna Group, passed away on 19 November 2022 at the age of 85. Ariz Khambhat took the domestic beverage brand Rasna to 60 countries. He was also the former President of WAPIZ (World Alliance of Parsi Irani Zarathostei) and former President of Ahmedabad Parsi Panchayat as well as Vice President of Parsi Zoroastrian Anjuman Federation of India.

He was also the former president of the Ahmedabad Parsi community.

Following the demise of Rasana founder and chairman Ariz Pirojsha Khambatha, a statement issued by the Rasana Group said that the 85-year-old Khambatha passed away on Saturday. Ariz was also the Chairman of Khambata Benevolent Trust and Rasana Foundation. According to Rasana Group, Khambhat made important contributions in the field of Indian industry, commerce and social service. He was also the former president of Parsi organization WAPIZ and former president of Ahmedabad Parsi community.

Contributions to social development

Khambhat has made significant contributions to Indian industry, business and social development through service to society. Khambata is a well-known name for their popular local beverage brand Rasana. The brand is sold in 18 lakh retail outlets in the country. Rasana is now the world’s largest producer of soft drinks available in dry-concentrate form.

The Khambhat family founded a ready-to-serve concentrate soft drinks company called Jaffe. According to a report published on Forbes, in 1940, the Khambhat family of Ahmedabad founded a ready-to-serve concentrate soft drinks company called ‘Jaffe’. ‘Jaffe’ is a name derived from ‘Jaffa’, a variety of orange. Pirojsha Khambata (Ariz Khambata’s father) ran Jaffe on a B2B business model.

In 1976 Jaffe’s brand name was changed to Interest. When Ariz Khambhat joined the business in 1962, he started the company’s operations in addition to B2B and B2C. B2B stands for Business to Business i.e. business of one company with another company. B to C means business with customer i.e. direct business of company with customer. Jaffe’s brand name was changed to Interest in 1976 to expand into B2C.

Padma Awards

The Padma Awards are conferred by the President of India usually around March/April every year. This year, a total of 106 Padma awards will be conferred to personalities across varied disciplines. The Awards are given in three categories: Padma Vibhushan (for exceptional and distinguished service), Padma Bhushan (distinguished service of higher order) and Padma Shri (distinguished service).
