New Delhi: On January 25, 2023, the Piramal Foundation, under the Piramal Swasthya Management and Research Institute (PSMRI), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EngenderHealth to improve sexual and reproductive health and rights, as well as gender equality, in tribal communities through technical collaboration. The MoU was signed by Dr. Swati Piramal, Vice Chairperson of the Piramal Group and Chairperson of PSMRI, and Ms. Sekai P. Chikowero, Vice President of Programs at EngenderHealth, in the presence of other team members.
This MoU is a mutual commitment to work together in tribal communities, with an emphasis on impactful, gender-transformative, youth-friendly, and socially inclusive programs. Through this partnership, PSMRI and EngenderHealth will engage with and learn from community members to better understand their needs. EngenderHealth will serve as a technical and knowledge partner for PSMRI, providing support in their efforts to promote sexual and reproductive health and rights, and gender equality in the tribal communities they serve.
Dr. Piramal stated that this collaboration aligns with the foundation’s core values of “doing well and doing good for society and the country.” Ms. Chikowero echoed this sentiment, stating that EngenderHealth is committed to advancing gender equality through this partnership.
The Piramal Foundation is one of the largest not-for-profit organizations in India working in primary public healthcare with a focus on maternal, child and adolescent health, and non-communicable diseases.
