MUMBAI: India’s first Independent Public Relations firm Good Relations India has added two new verticals, CSR Advisory and CSR Auditing, with which it hopes to redefine the way clients approach the function.
The announcement comes at a time when the parliamentary panel has recommended having a clause in the Companies Bill that makes it mandatory for companies to report their corporate social responsibility initiatives and provide an explanation if they cannot perform.
In addition, most organizations have a reached a point where they have incorporated CSR as part of their Business model.
To ensure cooperation from the community organizations need to be seen as responsible entities that are aware of the needs of the community in which they operate in and be a source of solutions to those needs.
The basis of CSR advisory would be identifying the ground realities in terms of the location, demographics, societal issues and so on. On the introduction of the services, Deepak Kanulkar, CEO, Good Relations India said that “Although organizations are spending on CSR, whether it is effectively benefitting the community and the company nobody knows.
So, I think our product which we are offering will bridge this gap. Each rupee has to be spent prudently and each rupee spent has to achieve its objective”.
The CSR audit is a service which will provide a realistic picture of the impact of CSR on the community.
Normally companies do CSR directly or indirectly through the NGOs. Under the service, the CSR activities which have been implemented will be evaluated through primary collection of data ensuring an unbiased review of the initiatives undertaken by an organization.
