New Delhi: NALCO, a major company in India, has undertaken several CSR initiatives for the socio-economic development of the local community. Some of the notable projects include the “Nalco-Ki-Ladli” scheme, which provides financial assistance to meritorious girl children from BPL families, the Indradhanush scheme which sponsors free residential education for tribal children, and door-step health services through eight mobile health units.
In addition, NALCO celebrated the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, inaugurated 300 smart classrooms in 110 schools, and organized a mega blood donation camp. The company also launched a cleanliness drive, cleaned and weeded out old files, and distributed utility items to the Bhima Bhoi Government High School for blind students.
Corporate Social Responsibility
MECL is a premier Public Sector Enterprise responsible for exploration of all major minerals like coal, lignite, iron-ore, copper, zinc, limestone etc., developmental mining in various remote parts of the country. Generally, exploration/developmental mining projects of MECL are located in remote areas.
MINERAL EXPLORATION AND CONSULTANCY LT. (MECL) has also been actively involved in various CSR initiatives. These include modernizing its operations through the adoption of advanced software and equipment, diversifying its activities at both the business and corporate level, providing consultancy services to state governments, and generating more work through competitive techno-commercial offers and bilateral negotiations.
In addition, MECL has implemented various welfare measures for its employees, such as health and education facilities, sports and cultural activities, and housing assistance. It has also contributed to the development of the local community through initiatives such as providing medical aid and establishing computer centers in remote areas.
