Synopsis of the Story

Dr. S. Siddharth IAS, Principal Secretary to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Bihar, called on companies to allocate a fair share of their CSR funds to Bihar, which has a large number of consumers for the goods of these companies, making it a “consumer state”.

PATNA: The 2nd International Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) 2022, organized by the Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna (CIMP) in collaboration with India CSR, aimed to bring together experts from various fields to share their knowledge, expertise, and experience on various dimensions of CSR for enhanced effectiveness and applicability.

The chief guest of the conference, while delivering inaugural address, Dr. S. Siddharth IAS, Principal Secretary to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Bihar, expressed his concern over the lack of corporate social responsibility (CSR) funding in the state. Dr. Siddharth highlighted the fact that Bihar does not have a large number of production units or corporate headquarters, which has resulted in a lack of CSR funding for the state. However, he emphasized that Bihar has a large number of consumers for the goods of these companies, making it a “consumer state”. Dr. Siddharth called on companies to allocate a fair share of their CSR funds to Bihar, in order to address the pressing needs of the people in the state.

Dr. Siddharth called on companies to allocate a fair share of their CSR funds to Bihar, stating that the state should receive at least 11 percent of the total CSR funds. He emphasized the importance of CSR in addressing the pressing needs of the people of Bihar, such as education and healthcare, and urged companies to recognize the role that the state plays as a major consumer of their goods.

Dr. Siddharth’s statement highlights the need for companies to take a more inclusive approach to their CSR initiatives and consider the needs of all the states and communities that they serve. By providing a fair share of CSR funds to Bihar, companies can help to drive positive change and improve the lives of the people in the state.

Dr. S. Siddharth stressed the importance of individual responsibility in the realm of corporate social responsibility (CSR). He emphasized that CSR is not just limited to companies, but rather is the responsibility of each and every individual.

Dr. Siddharth’s inspiring words were met with enthusiasm by attendees at the event, who were all eager to hear more about the new CSR program and how it would benefit the people of Bihar.

Dr. Siddharth’s powerful message was further emphasized by his use of the catchy tagline “CSR humara hai” (CSR is ours), which resonated with attendees and highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in driving positive change in society.

The conference featured a number of notable speakers, including Dr. Hishmi Jamil Hussain, Corporate Sustainability Head at Tata Steel, and Dr. Collin Coulson-Thomas, President of the Institute of Management Services; Vivek Prakash, VP & Head, CSR, Jubilant Ingrevia; Abhishek Ranjan, Director & Global Head, Sustainability of Brillio Technology and Prof. (Dr.) Archana Sawshilya, Delhi University.
