CSR: Assam CM, MoS MoPNG flag off ONGC aided ambulances

On the occasion, a film depicting the CSR initiatives of ONGC for the socio-economic development of Assam was also screened.

Under the aegis of ONGC, ONGC Foundation has extended support of ₹ 4.38 Crore for these ambulances including four years annual maintenance contract.


New Delhi: Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Hon’ble Minister of State, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas & Labour and Employment, Government of India, Rameswar Teli flagged off nine ONGC aided advanced lifesaving ambulances (ADLS) to medical colleges in Assam on 3 November 2022 at Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh, on the occasion of the valedictory function of its Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

While flagging off the ambulances, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Sarma lauded the initiative of ONGC for augmenting the healthcare facilities in Assam. Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble MoS, MoPNG Rameswar Teli termed ONGC’s CSR initiative as historic. Further he added, that such advanced Ambulances are indicators of progress of the Assam State. Referring to the multi-specialty hospital at Sivasagar supported by ONGC, Mr Teli underscored that quality healthcare for the commoners is one of the key objectives of CSR initiatives of the company.

Speaking on the occasion Director, Onshore Anurag Sharma reaffirmed the commitment of ONGC towards the progress of people of Assam.

Earlier Dr Sarma handed over a symbolic key of the advanced lifesaving ambulance to the principal of Assam Medical College Dr Sanjib Kakoty.

The flagging-off ceremony was graced by senior officials including along with ED-Basin Manager Assam & Assam Arakan Basin, Smt Sushma Rawat, ED-Asset Manager, Assam Asset R K Sharma and ED-Chief-CSR, ONGC, A P Singh.

The advanced life saving ambulances, with a wide range of pre hospital care equipment such Transport Ventilators, Defibrillator, Suction Apparatus, Nebulizer, Oxygen supply, etc. shall cater to medical emergencies covering neonatal support, trauma, maternity and accident cases.

These ambulances will be managed by Medical College and Hospital, Jorhat, Medical College and Hospital, Silchar; Medical College and Hospital, Tezpur; Guwahati Medical College and Hospital; Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital, Barpeta; Medical College and Hospital, Lakhimpur; Diphu Medical & Hospital; Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh; Tinsukia Medical College and Hospital.

Under the aegis of ONGC, ONGC Foundation has extended support of ₹ 4.38 Crore for these ambulances including four years annual maintenance contract.

On the occasion, a film depicting the CSR initiatives of ONGC for the socio-economic development of Assam was also screened.

Earlier in 2013, under CSR, a financial assistance of ₹ 7.5 Cr was extended by ONGC to the Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh for establishing advanced Cath Lab. This lab is catering to the patients from Upper Assam and also enabling the faculty to impart training to the PG students.
