Bengaluru (India CSR): Embassy Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Education, Government of Karnataka, to create model schools for the all-inclusive development of government schools in Bangalore, a Commitment for a period of 3 years. The scope of the MoU is to provide educational resources, infrastructural support, and holistic health programmes for 22 government schools, starting with a budget of Rs. 11.2 Crores, for FY22-23.

The MoU is for a period of three years, starting from April 2022 to March 2025. Embassy Group has been supporting the Department of Education in Karnataka since 2010 and has previously signed two MoUs to support government schools.

Commenting on the collaboration, Dr Vishal R, I.A.S, Commissioner for Public Instruction, Government of Karnataka, said, “We are thankful to Embassy Group and their partners for their contributions, which has ensured continuity of holistic development in these government schools. I am happy to share that we have joined hands yet again, to support these initiatives, including infrastructure support for another three years, and I look forward to working together in times to come.”

Under the MoU, Embassy will implement educational programmes including annual distribution of starter kits; programmes for Math, Life Skills, English & E-learning initiatives; after-school academic support for high school students; scholarships for higher education; skill development programs; industry exposure; and employment for students who have passed out of the schools.

Since 2012, Embassy Group has been providing sustainable infrastructure solutions in government schools. To date, fifteen new government schools have been constructed, with three more schools currently under construction. Twenty adopted schools receive daily school maintenance, solar panels, rainwater harvesting systems, and RO water plants.

Shaina Ganapathy, Head of Community Outreach, Embassy Group, said, “At Embassy Group, we strongly believe that nurturing the youth of today with holistically curated education and health programmes is vital to empowering the next generation and strengthening our nation in the long run. We are very happy to partner with the Department of Education to ensure Karnataka’s underprivileged children are given opportunities to explore higher education, to seek career guidance, and build promising bonds with alumni that can support them through their journey. We hope that this will inspire more corporates and NGOs to join hands with the government and align their goals to achieve collective impact.”

In addition, the Group has been providing health interventions in government schools since 2016. Noting that there was a general lack of understanding of preventative measures to combat common health problems, Embassy, in collaboration with Cerner (their corporate partner in CSR Healthcare initiatives), designed a comprehensive and targeted 7-step programme that could tackle this issue. Leading healthcare partners support on-ground delivery of preventative awareness, provision of nutritional supplements and screenings.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Embassy instituted a series of relief initiatives for their adopted government schools, including the provision of health kits, masks, and dry rations. The Group also supported the SSLC Examination Board for 3 consecutive years with the provision of sanitizers and masks at every exam centre.
