CSR: Hindustan Zinc recognised for Healthcare initiatives

Hindustan Zinc received the award for its exceptional performance in the CSR Health Campaign Category

Udaipur: Hindustan Zinc, India’s only and the world’s second-largest integrated zinc-lead-silver producer, received the 6th CSR Health Impact Awards 2022 during the award ceremony at Hotel Hyatt Regency, New Delhi on 19th May 2022. The award was presented to the company for its flagship CSR project, Khushi Anganwadi Nandghar, for its exceptional performance in the CSR Health Campaign Category, benefitting 1,90,000+ children in 2,500+ villages of 5 districts of Rajasthan i.e. Udaipur, Rajsamand, Chittorgarh, Bhilwara & Ajmer.

The jury members were Ram Bandyopadhyay, IAS, Former secretary Minister of Corporate Affairs, Alok Ranjan, IAS, Former Chief Secretary, Government of Uttar Pradesh, Dr. Chandrakant Pandav, Public Health Expert, S Sridhar, Managing Director Pfizer India & President OPPI, Dr. Farhat Mantoo, General Director, MSF South Asia, Dr. Ranjana Kumari, Director, Centre for Social Research, Mathew Cherian, Board Chairperson, Care India, Saumil Mody, Country Head, General Manager, Novartis Oncology, India and Vijay Sethi, Digital Transformation, Sustainability Evangelist.

The chief guest was Shri Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare of India, and Shri Ramdas Athawle, Hon’ble Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment of India, to present the awards.

The CSR Health Impact Award is an initiative of the Integrated Health and Wellbeing Council (IHW), which aims to inspire businesses to lead a nationwide CSR-based health movement and appeal to the corporate conscience of others to join in on a larger scale and strengthen the movement. Our Khushi team Carried out a dipstick assessment to study the effect of COVID -19 on Anganwadi workers and the community as a whole. To ensure continuity of pre-school education during COVID-19 and beyond, videos with preschool education content and teaching-learning materials were shared through WhatsApp. Also undertook home visits to strengthen the community connection. Apart from this, the program’s main focus is on improving the nutrition status of the rural children and strengthening the health & hygiene aspects of the community.

The award recognizes companies that have incorporated responsible business practices into their core philosophy by launching the most effective health CSR initiatives that have impacted millions of people. Their guiding philosophy is that focused and dedicated efforts that directly impact health should be recognised to inspire more hands and more initiatives to form part of a healthy nation.
