Udaipur: Hindustan Zinc (HZL), one of the world’s largest and India’s only integrated producer of Zinc, Lead, and Silver embraces a valuable culture for encouraging innovation that leads to a Zero harm environment and drives sustainability throughout the company. Hindustan Zinc has received Excellence Award from the Federation of Indian Mineral Industries (FIMI) on 29th September 2021 for its Kayad Mines.
This award was presented by the Hon’ble Union Minister of Mines, Coal, and Parliament Affairs, Mr. Prahlad Joshi and received by Mr. K.C Meena, Director SBU – Kayad Mine. The ceremony was conducted at the FIMI House, New Delhi during the annual general meeting of FIMI.
This excellence award was instituted in the year 2004-05. The country’s first mining Engineer and former Chairman of Coal India Ltd Sh. G. L. Tondon has been conferred the prestigious Padma Bhushan Award, in memory of his late wife Smt. Bala Gulshan Tandon.
The award is intended to recognize excellence in all aspects of mining performance, such as economics, social, environmental quality, and safety.
The evaluation of the award also covers areas such as commitment, self-evaluation, transparency, and governance. Based on the above parameters, FIMI received 9 entries for this award for 2020-21, of which 3 mines were shortlisted and Kayad Mine of Hindustan Zinc Limited won the Excellence award.
