DHENKANAL (Odisha): GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited observed the National Road-Safety Week with series of educative and awareness programmes for its employees, workers, drivers, students and community members from January 9-15, 2017.
During the week-long celebration, GKEL organized series of programs including Street Play, safety awareness in plant, township, peripheral villages and schools through various activities like oral quiz and poster competitions for school children, quiz and debate competition among employees, audio visual demonstration for contract workers & drivers.
The objective of the initiative was to spread awareness and sensitise employees, contract workers and drivers about different road signs and traffic rules that are essential for safe driving. The EHS department distributed safety booklets, leaf lets and stickers to all in the plant and spread awareness on safe driving with a theme–“Your Safety, Secures Your Family-Be Cautious on Road”. The banners in different languages on road safety were also displayed in prominent locations of the plant.
GKEL organized an array of road safety awareness programs among school children at GMR Varalakshmi DAV School Public School, Upper Primary School at Achalkot and Saraswati Sisumandira at Mangalpur and prizes distributed to the winners on the occasion.
The week-long program was successful due to the active participation and support of all the employees of GKEL and security team of RAXA.
