What’s next for the Indian cricket team after IPL 2023?

IPL 2023 has been a rollercoaster ride for the fans. New emerging players were given exceptional opportunities to prove their skills, and they have set the standards right. Veterans have proved again how they were the most valuable assets of their respective teams. There were ten teams divided into two virtual groups for playoffs. Gujarat Titans (GT) proved them worthy to play the final match against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The high-octane match led to the 5th title win for CSK.

The Legacy of IPL 2023

Fans get hooked to their seats during a match of their favorite teams. In fact, IPL has turned out to be one of the most entertaining franchises of Indian cricket. Its popularity has crossed borders due to the inclusion of foreign players. There is no doubt that IPL 2023 has drawn exceptional attention in the media. From the heated encounters to the breathtaking spells and the top-class batting performances to the nail-biting chases, IPL has given righteous entertainment to cricket admirers all over the world. As per the IPL schedule, there were back-to-back matches for the Indian cricketers. A course of matches does take a toll on the fitness and well-being of the leading players. Despite the intense training of the young squad to persevere the effect of continuous performance, they will need time to revive and prepare for the upcoming events. Now that IPL 2023 is over, what about the next ventures of the Indian cricket team? Is the team preparing for new tournaments? Who are the opponents? What will be the next national squad? Schedule for Team India after IPL 2023

A month’s break

As per the latest news, Team India was all set to play a series of three one-day international matches against Team Afghanistan in June-July. Due to some unavoidable circumstances, the matches got canceled. The Indian players have gone through a lot during IPL 2023 and will need to rest a bit to gear up for the upcoming events.

  1. India Vs. Australia ICC World Test Championship 2023

The team got to rest before preparing for the upcoming India Vs. Australia ICC World Test Championship in Oval. Based on the current news, Australia has won the first test by 209 runs. In the first test, India decided to bowl after winning the toss. The Indian bowlers did perform well and gave the batsmen a hard time scoring runs in this test. The Australian batting order for this test was marvelous. The tons scored by Steve Smith and Travis Head did place the team score to a whopping 469 in the first inning. The team added 270 more runs in the second inning, but the Indian batsmen fell short. Eventually, Australia maintained its leadership milestone in the ICC WTC 2023.

  1. India Vs. West Indies (Away) July-August 2023

Once the ICC WTC 2023 is over, the Indians will prepare for the upcoming West Indies tour to play a series of tests, one-day internationals, and T20s. Set on the date from 12th July to 31st August, these matches will be played on the grounds of the West Indies. The Indian cricket team will rest for a month and prepare for this international event. The teams will play three ODIs, 5 T20s, and 2 test matches per the schedule. The ICC ODI ranking of the West Indies is 10. It holds the 8th position on ICC Test Cricket ranking list. It also holds the 7th position on the ICC T20 cricket ranking list. 

  1. Asia Cup 2023 September 2023

We have learned that the Indian team refused to play against Afghanistan in Pakistan. Team India is getting prepared for the upcoming Asia Cup to be held in September 2023. Although there is a dilemma lurking regarding setting the venue for this international event, the schedules for the matches have not been released yet. As per the discussions, 12 ODIs will be held between the participating teams in the Asian continent. 

  1. India Vs. Australia September-October 2023

After completing the Asia Cup 2023, India will set its grounds to play against Australia. The two teams will compete against each other in 5 T20s and 3 ODIs. Fans believe this international event will be ideal for Team India to prepare for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

  1. ICC ODI World Cup October-November 2023

India will host the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 this year after 12 years. This thrilling international event will be the right way to end this year for the fans of Indian cricket. A total of 48 matches will be held. Ten international teams will compete with each other for the title. These teams will be segmented into two groups for playoffs.

  1. South Africa Tour 2023

This eventful year will end with the scheduled South Africa tour for the Indian cricket team. As per the decided schedule, India will play 3 Odis, 2 tests, and 3 T20s against South Africa.
