MUMBAI: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Actor Akshay Kumar launched New India Conclave in Mumbai on May 1, 2018.
“The Conclave, focusing on various aspects of the rise of rural India will be held in national capital New Delhi during 1st week of July this year and will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Ministers of various states and other stakeholders in rural development.”, Praful Nikam, President of Y4D Foundation, the organizer informed India CSR Network.
When Akshay Kumar was on rural poverty, he said that he always believed in solution. “We have so many problems, but where is solution?, we must focus on solutions not problems”, he added.
Devendra Fadnavis while addressing the media said that we should learn from rural achievers and their experience can help in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) at village level.
The forum is supported by Avanee Foundation, Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (India). The forum aimed at unearthing and recognizing rural achievers whose innovative initiatives are transforming rural India.
Akshay Kumar said, “During my travels in rural part of the country, I have observed that many heroes are silently driving rural transformation and I have played some of them in my movies. Such kind of forum will play an important role in recognizing these rural achievers whose innovations and achievements need to be applauded.”
Village achievers Tanay Chakravarty, founder Needs NGO; Radheshyam Gomla, Gomla Model Village, Haryana; Popatrao Pawar, Hiware Bazar, Maharashtra; Shyam Sundar Paliwal, Social Activist, Rajasthan; Barun Singh, Rural Activist, Bihar; Rangswamy Ealango, Rural Activist, Tamil Nadu shared their experiences while transforming the villages.
As a Brand Ambassador of the forum, Akshay Kumar moderated the talks and interacted with the rural achievers.
