This new mobile clinic will cater to nearly 45,000 people from these villages
Huntsman, a global manufacturer and marketer of differentiated chemicals in association with the Institute for Global Development (IGD), a non-profit organization, today, launched its second Mobile Medicare Clinic (MMC) in Chakan which cater to the people of 18 villages around the company’s manufacturing plant in Chakan, Pune.
This new mobile clinic will cater to nearly 45,000 people from these villages and will cover an area of more than 15 miles from its base, serving over 70 patients by visiting two to three villages.
Since the launch of the first MMC in 2018, more than 25,000 patients from Navi Mumbai, near Mumbai have benefited from the program.
Speaking on the launch and importance of this initiative, Rahul Tikoo, MD- Huntsman, India sub-continent, said, “Providing access to basic healthcare for the people in and around the region that we closely engage with has been a core focus area that was identified based on a need assessment around our plant area in Chakan.”
“With the launch of this second Mobile Health Clinic, we intend to provide a wide range of critical medical services for the community which will lead to awareness around a healthy lifestyle and the need for routine check-ups.”, he said.
This MMC will provide primary health care services including maternal and child health and reproductive health services, management of chronic communicable, non-communicable and basic, and geriatric care.

The mobile clinic is fully equipped with safety features, a basic diagnostic facility, medical staff and will serve the population with the intent of providing free on-site primary health care facilities to the area and improving the reach of basic medical facilities.
Linking of government health services from Primary Health Centre and Community Health Centres will also be available for the sustainability of the project.
