LUCKNOW (India CSR): In a landmark move, the Uttar Pradesh government and Hero Future Energies (HFE), a subsidiary of the renowned Hero Group, inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on January 18, 2024, in Davos, Switzerland. This agreement, valued at Rs. 4,000 crore, signifies a major investment into renewable energy and clean technology projects in Uttar Pradesh, further solidifying the state’s position as a burgeoning hub for sustainable development.

The momentous MoU was signed amidst the prestigious World Economic Forum meetings in Davos, marking a significant step forward in the collaboration between public and private sectors for environmental sustainability. Manoj Kumar Singh, Agriculture Production Commissioner & Infrastructure & Industrial Development Commissioner of the UP Government, and Rahul Munjal, Chairman and Managing Director of Hero Future Energies, represented their respective organizations in this pivotal agreement.

Additionally, HFE has 2 GW of projects in the pipeline, spanning India, Vietnam, Bangladesh, and the UK, underscoring its commitment to expanding its renewable energy footprint globally.

HCL Technologies: Expanding in Lucknow
In their meeting with Kalyan Kumar, Chief Product Officer of HCL Technologies, the delegation discussed the company’s expansion plans in Lucknow. This expansion is part of the HCL IT City project, which covers over 100 acres and functions as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
Nestle and Microsoft: Potential Collaborations
The discussion with Ranveer Chandra, MD, Industry Research at Microsoft, revolved around the possibility of setting up an AI hub in Uttar Pradesh. Furthermore, in a meeting with Paul Bulcke, Chairman of Nestle Global, Manoj Kumar Singh explored the possibility of establishing a Nestle plant in the state and discussed collaborations with local farmers to boost milk productivity.
