BHUBANESWAR: Tractors India Pvt Ltd (TIPL) has donated two meal distribution vehicles to Akshaya Patra Foundation to serve 7500 children every day across Bhubaneswar and Rourkela in Odisha. The CSR initiative will endeavour to fulfil the shared vision of creating a brighter future for the deserving children. The ceremony was held at Akshaya Patra’s Bhubaneswar-Cuttack office.
“We endeavour to give back to the community and contribute towards the sustainable development of the society. For a family residing in rural India in abject poverty, the decision to send their child to school is essentially a matter of economics”, Manav Kohli said.
“We hope that our intervention will provide a fillip to the dreams of over 7500 school children across these two locations”, said Manav Kohli on the occasion.
Kausik Bose said, “Improving the education ecosystem for the underprivileged children is a priority for all of us at TIPL. Hygienically cooked, nutritional mid-day meal to school going children has been an important enabler in increasing enrolment, attendance and classroom participation. The association with Akshaya Patra Foundation is our commitment towards the cause that helps to bring more children to schools”.
The vehicles will be used to distribute mid-day meals to children in Govt schools. Akshaya Patra is feeding around 1.6 million children every day across 30 locations in 12 states. A meal gives the children an incentive to go to school, stay in school and provides them with the necessary nutrients they need, to satiate hunger and to focus on learning.
TIPL is a proud partner of Caterpillar in India for the last 73 years, operating out of East & North India as well as in Bhutan. The company is also present in Nepal through the wholly owned subsidiary Tractors Nepal Private Limited (TNPL).
