Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy asks officials to create a dedicated CSR policy, launch a Telangana CSR portal, and ensure more corporate social responsibility funds are spent within the state.
HYDERABAD (India CSR): In a major move to increase corporate participation in development, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday directed officials to prepare a comprehensive policy for the mobilisation and effective use of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds in the state.
The Chief Minister expressed concern over Telangana’s low share in the country’s total CSR spending. He said the state currently receives only around 3 per cent of the national CSR funds. He stressed that companies operating in Telangana should spend at least 50 per cent of their CSR funds within the state.
Revanth Reddy said Telangana needs a clear and structured system. This, he noted, will help bring in more CSR money and ensure better use of funds for public development.
During a review meeting with officials, the Chief Minister proposed setting up a dedicated CSR cell at the state level. He said the cell should have a separate office to monitor, coordinate, and streamline CSR activities being undertaken by corporate firms in Telangana.
He said such a system would help bridge the gap between companies and government departments. It would also make project implementation more focused and impactful.
The Chief Minister also directed officials to make arrangements for a felicitation ceremony as part of the state formation day celebrations. He said the state-level CSR cell should compile details of projects available across government departments that can be taken up with CSR support.
To improve corporate engagement further, Revanth Reddy approved the creation of a Telangana CSR portal. The portal will act as a link between corporate companies and government departments. It will provide complete information about projects that need support. The platform will be designed in a user-friendly way so that companies can easily identify and support projects that match their CSR priorities.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that Telangana’s CSR share remains low despite the state’s strong industrial base. Taking serious note of this, Revanth Reddy directed officials to take proactive steps to increase CSR inflows into the state.
He said funds generated in Telangana should be spent in Telangana. He also asked officials to study CSR models adopted by other states and include best practices while framing the new policy.
The Chief Minister said the new policy should focus on attracting greater corporate participation and delivering stronger development outcomes across Telangana.
