BERHAMPUR: An agricultural interactive session ‘Vaarta – The Agricultural Meet’ organized by Tata Steel at UCP Engineering School ground here.The Event started on a promising note with participation of more than 600local farmers and experts from the field.
The two day meet was inaugurated by Shri Ashish Thakre, Project Director, DRDA, Ganjam in presence of Shri. Kaushik Sinha, DGM, SBI, Berhampur; Shri Bhagawan Dash, Deputy Director, Horticulture, Ganjam; Shrimati. Jyotsna Nayak, Deputy Mayor, Berhampur and Shri. Sushanta Mishra, Chief, Project Gopalpur & SEZ, Tata Steel.
This interactive session aims at disseminating latest technical know-how on farming to farmers, enhancing their knowledge about crop techniques to help them increase agriculture productivity through training sessions.
15 agriculture and allied scientists from reputed institutes like OUAT and other national level organizations are sharing best practices and insights on various agricultural aspects such as quality seeds, productivity, better use of inputs, economical food processing units, pulses production, etc.with farmers in 3 groups.
Praising the noble initiative of Tata Steel, Shri Thakre emphasized on adoption of latest tools and technologies in agriculture to increase the yield. Reaffirming Tata Steel’s commitment towards improving lives and livelihoods of people around its operations, Shri. Sushanta Mishra said “Ganjam has a rich history in agriculture. With this interaction, we aim to provide the farmers a much needed platform to interact with agriculture scientists on various farming issues”
Presiding the inaugural programme, Shri. Debdoot Mohanty, Head, CSR, Tata Steel said, “This session will address agriculture related queries of the farmers thereby helping them to increase their productivity”. The inaugural event was followed by colorful cultural performances by local artists.
