BHUBANESWAR (India CSR): In a significant move towards fostering diversity and inclusion in the corporate world, Tata Power led Odisha DISCOMs, joint ventures with the Government of Odisha, launched a pioneering initiative, ନୂଆ ଆରମ୍ଭ (A New Beginning). This program is specifically designed to provide opportunities for women who have taken a career break and are eager to re-enter the workforce. This initiative is a testament to the company’s ongoing commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for women in the workplace.

Overwhelming Response and Selection Process

Following the launch of the program, the initiative saw an overwhelming response. After a thorough screening and selection process in line with the organization’s recruitment policy, a group of exceptional women candidates have been selected to join the workforce across four DISCOMs in Odisha. These women will now have the opportunity to reintegrate into the workforce and embark on their professional journey once again.

Celebrating Success with Dignitaries

The culmination of this initiative took place at a special event that celebrated the successful onboarding of these new recruits. The event was graced by the esteemed Chief Guest, Smt. Usha Padhee, IAS, Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department and Commerce & Transport Department, Odisha. Other key attendees included several distinguished leaders from TP Odisha DISCOMs.

Insights and Encouragement from Smt. Usha Padhee

During the event, Usha Padhee shared her invaluable insights on the importance of achieving a balance between work and life for women employees. She also offered her encouragement and best wishes to the newly onboarded candidates as they embark on their second careers. Smt. Padhee praised TP Odisha DISCOMs for launching such a unique and commendable initiative that provides women with the opportunity to restart their professional journeys after a break.

Empowering Women and Building an Inclusive Workplace

The event was a resounding success; it showcased the company’s continued dedication to empowering women and promoting a more inclusive and equitable workplace environment. During the ceremony, the selected candidates were presented with their joining kits by Smt. Usha Padhee and shared their heartfelt stories of returning to the workforce after taking a break.

A Step Towards a More Inclusive Future

ନୂଆ ଆରମ୍ଭ serves as a shining example of Tata Power-led Odisha Discoms’ commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion, providing women with equal opportunities to thrive in the workplace. The initiative is expected to inspire other organizations to follow suit, creating supportive pathways for women to re-enter their careers, thereby contributing to a more inclusive and empowered workforce.

Tata Power’s Role in Odisha’s Energy Transformation

Over the past few years, Tata Power has played a pivotal role in transforming Odisha’s energy landscape by managing power distribution operations across all four discoms—TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited, TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited, TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited, and TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited—under a public-private partnership model. The ନୂଆ ଆରମ୍ଭ initiative is part of Tata Power led Odisha DISCOMs’ broader efforts to empower women and encourage equal opportunities for all employees.
