It’s a powerful example of how corporate initiatives can drive meaningful change in water-stressed India.
NEW DELHI (India CSR): On World Water Day, REHAU India emerges as a sustainability leader, recycling an impressive 2,098,000 litres of water annually at its Vadodara facility. This effort, enough to sustain 33 families in the region, slashes the company’s environmental footprint while addressing local water needs.
India’s water crisis is intensifying, with Gujarat’s per capita freshwater availability at just 1,137 cubic meters, far below the global threshold. The ‘National Compilation on Dynamic Ground Water Resources of India, 2024’ reports a total groundwater recharge of 446.90 BCM, yet extraction remains high at 245.64 BCM. In Vadodara, fluoride contamination adds urgency to conservation efforts. Against this backdrop, REHAU’s recycling milestone stands out.
The company recycles an impressive 2,098,000 litres of water annually, significantly reducing its environmental footprint while contributing to the local community’s water needs. Tushar Verma, Executive Vice President of REHAU India, emphasized, “Sustainability is core to our operations. This initiative reflects our commitment to resource conservation and community well-being.”
Government efforts like the Jal Shakti Abhiyan and Gujarat’s Kalpasar Project complement such corporate actions. The Vadodara Municipal Corporation’s lake-deepening projects further boost local water storage. REHAU’s work aligns seamlessly with these, setting a benchmark for sustainable water management.
