New Delhi – Global business consultancy – Sterling Media’s social enterprise ‘World We Want’ will organise Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Impact Summit, in India, a company release said quoting the Chief Executive officer (CEO) Natasha Mudhar.
The summit will be organised in November, in collaboration with the Times of India Group, the release said. The release did not mention the date.
“The summit will encourage people everywhere to raise their voices, help build awareness of the SDGs, and hold their government leaders accountable for progress,” the release said quoting Mudhar.
The announcement came amid a discussion at the Cannes Lions with Mekanism President and CEO Jason Harris and, Global Citizen’s Vice President, International Markets, Amy Agnew. Mekanism is a San Francisco-based marketing company while GLobal Citizen is a not-for-profit organisation.
While delivering a call for a public-private-partnership (PPP) to achieve the UN identified goals, Mudhar said India had an important role to play towards SDG success story.
During the discussion, Natasha also emphasised on the potential of PPPs for managing USD 1.6 trillion of annual funds, needed to achieve the SDGs by 2030.
“There is no single entity in this world that holds the solutions to the world’s problems,” she said adding the magnitude of the challenges required collective action from corporate, government, public sector, celebrities and the public.
“Therefore Goal 17 is perhaps the most important SDG to unlock the potential of all of the other goals”, Mudhar said.
To ensure corporate participation for the realisation of the SDG agenda, it will be imperative to demonstrate the business case to the companies, Mudhar said.
“My ambition is to be a part of India’s success story where it becomes the benchmark country in achieving the SDGs by 2030.”, Mudhar said.
