BHUBANESWAR: Sesa Sterlite Limited, Lanjigarh bagged the Best Corporate Award for 2014 at a ceremony organized at Hotel Empire, Bhubaneswar by Odia Televiewers. In this occasion Mr. Jalaj Malpani, Head – Finance and Mr. Kostav Kundu, Head – HR, SSL received the memento from Chief Guest Mr Jual Oram, Union Cabinet Minister. The company was awarded for its excellent contribution to the society in the field of heath, education and livelihood generation in the backward districts of Kalahandi and Rayagada.
SSL has been actively spreading education by supporting various government and non-government schools, by providing mid-day meal to 15,000 students every day and setting up DAV Vedanta International School. Its Vedanta hospital has been providing free medical treatment and medicines to more than 200 patients every day.
The company also received the Best Corporate Award for excellence in Corporate Communication and Public Relations. The award is an acknowledgement of how the company’s communications and media relations team have managed to reach out to communities, stakeholders and critics by showcasing the company’s ground level work in CSR and contribution to the districts as well as the state.
