AURANGABAD: ŠKODA AUTO has always been ecologically conscious towards the well-being of the society and environment in and around its operations in India. Environmental conservation and sustainable development have always been the guiding principles of its ‘GREEN FUTURE’ strategy. Under its Corporate Social Responsibility strategy, ŠKODA AUTO India has recently put in place various initiatives that gives a fresh lease of life to Varzadi, a village in Gangapur Talluka near the company’s plant at Aurangabad, Maharashtra.
In a major support to education infrastructure for the youngsters in and around the village and in order to build a conducive learning facility, ŠKODA AUTO India has renovated the Varzadi Zilla Parishad School building – including painting of the whole building and compound wall construction. Besides the overall renovation, the company has also constructed new toilets for the students and put in essential electrical fittings in each class rooms.
ŠKODA AUTO India has also introduced free training classes for the students in Varzadi village across various platforms in order to improve their English language skills, computer literacy and build the concept of hobby classes. These free training classes started from this week of Monday, November 26, 2018 and received an overwhelming response from the young students of the village.
In order to promote bio-diversity and environmental conservations, ŠKODA AUTO India have been organizing tree plantation drives in Varzadi village. In recent times, such plantation drives witnessed an overwhelming participation from the employees, who supported this cause by planting 150 trees in the village in May 2018 on the occasion of International Day for Biological Diversity.
Recently the company added solar power plant project at its Aurangabad plant to make use of renewable energy, with an aim to reduce fossil fuel consumption and develop a sustainable business model. Taking forward this philosophy of promoting the use of renewable energy in the society, ŠKODA AUTO has also installed 23 Solar Lamps in Varzadi Village, including 3 for the Zilla Parishad School which was inaugurated by Pavneet Kaur – CEO of Zilla Parishad in presence Board members of ŠKODA Auto – Lubos Hradecky, Rajagopalan Paliyath and Jana Fernandez.
