Empowering Rural Youth: Digital Skilling through a Mobile Initiative
In an applaudable step towards fostering skill development, Union Minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, in collaboration with Speaker, Lok Sabha, Om Birla, inaugurated the ‘Skills on Wheels’ initiative. Partnered with NSDC and IndusInd Bank, this initiative strives to reshape the trajectory of 60,000 youths over five years by offering them pertinent skills training.

Customized Bus to Reach the Unreached
Emphasizing the initiative’s adaptability and outreach, Pradhan remarked that the custom-fitted bus is designed to extend the ‘Skill India Mission’ even to India’s most remote regions. By centering the program on rural youths, especially women, the effort is directed towards imparting them with vital digital skills, thereby ensuring their preparedness for the job market and the future at large.
Empowering through Awareness
The ‘Skills on Wheels’ bus is devised to traverse across India’s aspirational and backward districts, acting as a beacon of awareness about free skill training programs. By acquainting the youth with these opportunities, the initiative aims to profoundly alter their life’s trajectory through intensive skill training. The collaboration with IndusInd Bank stands testament to the shared vision of nation-building through youth empowerment.
Closing the Skill Gap
Objective & Strategy
The core purpose of ‘Skills on Wheels’ is to facilitate a vast number of youths in accessing industry-aligned skill training, augmenting their theoretical and practical acumen. This initiative seeks to catalyze their livelihood prospects by establishing synchronicity, oversight, and efficient coordination among different stakeholders.
Bridging the Divide
Addressing the widening chasm between industry-required skill sets and unemployed youths, the program is curated to ensure candidates align their passion with the most suitable course. This is determined based on their academic foundation, natural aptitude, and existing skill set, fostering an environment where every individual can thrive.
