The Water Management program of S M Sehgal Foundation works with communities to harvest and store rainwater for direct use, and/or replenish groundwater by building and restoring infrastructure in villages.
It supports revival of traditional water bodies, construction of water storage infrastructure, and safe disposal of wastewater. It promotes safe drinking water for all with innovative low-cost, sustainable technologies and WASH behavior.
It creates awareness about the need for water conservation and builds capacities of local communities for better management and long-term sustainability of their water resources.

The Sehgal Foundation has come up with an animated tutorial that shares the details, process and significance of water budgeting with respect to rural areas in India.
This video can be leveraged to educate and train villagers including the village development committees and the water management committees.
It is imperative for everyone in rural areas to be aware of –
1. the total availability of water;
2. the amount of water preserved through rainwater harvesting;
3. amount of rainwater that has become a part of the groundwater;
4. water that has gone into the local ponds and lakes;
