NEW DELHI (India CSR): Women’s health, particularly menstrual disorders, remains a significant yet often overlooked concern. To address this challenge and raise awareness on how to prevent such disorders, Sembcorp and its NGO partner, Society for Human Awakening, Rural Empowerment (SHARE), are undertaking healthcare interventions in remote villages across India.
Expanding Healthcare Access in Rural Areas
Through a series of dedicated healthcare camps, this initiative seeks to provide crucial medical services to communities that lack adequate healthcare infrastructure. Over the past three months, more than 130 healthcare camps were organised across seven Indian states – Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh. Each camp serves approximately 200 patients, translating to a direct impact on over 26,000 lives. Among these, over 12,500 women have received specialised medical attention. Health checkup camps are being organised across various states, ensuring widespread access to essential healthcare services.
Ensuring Primary and Preventive Healthcare
One of the key objectives of this initiative is to provide primary healthcare facilities by extending essential healthcare services to underserved regions, ensuring that even the most remote communities receive medical attention. Additionally, it focuses on preventive and curative healthcare by offering a combination of solutions to enhance the overall well-being of individuals across all demographics.
Comprehensive Medical Care at Healthcare Camps
Each healthcare camp under is designed to provide holistic medical care through a range of services, including preliminary checkups (including blood pressure, blood sugar, anaemia, and others). The health camps emphasise on improving community awareness on preventive healthcare, personal hygiene, and female health.
Medical Consultation, Referrals, and Medicine Distribution
Medical consultation and referrals are also a key component, with consultations being provided by registered medical practitioners and referrals to nearby healthcare facilities or government hospitals as needed. Additionally, medicine distribution plays a crucial role, ensuring the provision of basic medicines such as painkillers, antibiotics, and multivitamins for patients with critical medical conditions.
