Chairman & Managing Director, ITC Limited

Sanjiv Puri, an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur and the Wharton School of Business, USA, currently holds the position of Chairman and Managing Director of ITC Limited. He has been an integral part of the company for over three decades, holding various business leadership positions and managing a wide range of responsibilities in manufacturing, operations, and information and digital technology. He was appointed as a Wholetime Director on the Board of ITC in 2015, CEO in 2017 and re-designated as the Managing Director in 2018. In 2019, he was appointed as the Chairman.

Puri has been instrumental in driving the company’s ‘ITC Next’ vision which aims at redefining growth vectors for each business, with a greater focus on consumer-centricity, agility, and innovation. His emphasis on innovation has led to the creation of focused R&D platforms to address dynamic consumer preferences, resulting in the launch of several first-to-market products. Recognizing the significance of digital and sustainability in reshaping the future, Puri has rallied the organization to invest in developing capabilities and identifying tech-enabled growth opportunities.

In addition to his role at ITC, Puri has served as the Chairman of the Expert Group constituted by the Fifteenth Finance Commission of the Government of India to promote agri-exports. He has also been a member of the technology discussion group ‘Farm to Table – driving India’s agriculture sector digitally’ constituted by the NITI Aayog. He is an active member of several national and international business councils and has been honored with several awards for his contributions.

Puri has served as the Chairman and Non-Executive Director of ITC Infotech India Limited, ITC Infotech Limited UK, ITC Infotech (USA), Inc, and Surya Nepal Private Limited, and is a member of the Governing Board and Executive Board of Indian School of Business. He has been conferred with the ‘Distinguished Alumnus Award of the year 2018’ by the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and the ‘IMPACT Person of the Year, 2020’ Award by exchange4media.
