Winner of India CSR Professional of the Year Award 2017 Rushin Patel is a leading CSR professional, driven by passion, commitment and a missionary zeal towards social change.
In his modest career span of about 11 years he has led large-scale multistate development projects through his strategic perspective and collaborative approach within communities and convergence with multiple stakeholders, while embedding innovative and sustainable solutions at the grassroots. His personal credibility, integrity and ethics have been an inspiration for his colleagues, partners and communities.
He has left indelible footprints wherever he has gone and his work in CSR domain has been recognized and noticed by all concerned.
Starting his professional career with Essel Mining and Industries Ltd. in the year 2006, when CSR was not the ‘buzzword’, Rushin was able to establish successful CSR initiatives in remote Odisha villages near iron ore mines. Early in his career, he imbibed the skills to negotiate his way through various social barriers – languages, cultures, geographies and diverse needs of people and communities – to provide sustainable development solutions in all his projects.
His project on ‘health and wellbeing of expecting and lactating mothers’ in 68 villages of Karjan Block in Vadodra, had such an impact that it was noticed and recognized by the government.
He was responsible for end-to-end execution of the project – making strategy plan, monitoring, social sensitization, mobilization and direct implementation of the initiative along with homoeopathic medical professionals. The project was appreciated as one of the best practices to improve nutritional status of mothers.
In his two years at Adani Foundation, Rushin conceptualized and successfully led flagship CSR projects for managing community health, livelihood and empowerment programs in 30 villages of Mundra, Kutch Dist. Gujarat.
Some of his projects, ‘Kidney stone prevention and cure program’, ‘Health card to senior citizens’ and ‘equipment support to fishermen’ were successful initiatives which earned him the honour of outstanding performer at Adani.
Later at Cairn India, he led multi-sectorial CSR projects in 73 pipeline villages in Patan and Banaskantha Districts. of Gujarat. During this period, he developed innovative approaches through government liaison and convergence in and developed replicable initiatives, such as ‘digital education’, ‘quality seeds to farmers at right time’ amongst many others.
Owing to his diverse exposure in various industrial sectors like mining, port and power, oil and gas, Govt. and banking sector, Rushin has acquired unique adaptive skills to develop and lead corporate CSR with great impact, in any corner of the country and any community.
While working for diversified CSR projects, Rushin has evolved as a leading CSR professional in the country, effectively demonstrating skills for rural activation, campaign-based planning and initiatives, effective budgeting, negotiation, project management and innovation, team building, project evaluation and reporting for both quantitative and qualitative aspects.
In June 2015, Rushin joined HDFC Bank’s CSR Department, and has been successfully leading and executing various CSR initiatives of the Bank, like Schools Sanitation and WASH program, Skills Development Program, HRDP villages program and Rural Innovation Initiatives in multiple states.
