According to recent statistics, sports betting is becoming increasingly popular worldwide because it has been legalized in some parts internationally, like the U.S. India loves sports, and thus it is needless to mention that gambling related to sports is also on the rise. Players off the field make the arena of sports interesting and today, it is impossible to imagine sports without the betting industry.

In some cases, online betting is considered legal, and various Indian states are permitted to formulate laws regarding betting sports. Still, some of the instances of betting here happen to be unlawful.

The seventh schedule under the Indian constitution permits the states to introduce guidelines or laws for betting sports. Still, other than Meghalaya and Sikkim, betting is restricted in the majority of the states.

In India, cricket happens to be the most popular and influential sport, followed by football. Widespread admiration of such sports events and the extravagant marketing and promotion that supports them help online betting sites to drive the traffic toward them. As a result, websites related to betting sports have emerged as one of the fastest-growing sectors internationally. This sector has surprisingly touched a soaring business, the 60-billion-dollar mark, by 2021. But unfortunately, most of it has been earned illegally. Moreover, speculations reveal that projections see considerable growth in the upcoming five years. In the context of India, betting sports have gained widespread and fast popularity among varied age groups of sports enthusiasts.

Some of the factors that facilitated the sector to gain immense popularity are:

Increased use of mobile phones

Statistics estimate that smartphone users staying in India crossed 740 million in 2020. Also, about one-third of the entire day was spent on smartphones this year, considering the lockdown. The users can very quickly get hold of apps or even simple websites to play. With the help of a phone, it is easy to follow the guidelines updated in the various sports-based websites or play store apps and get knowledge of how to be a pro in betting.

The popularity of Cricket and Football

These two games and their ever-increasing popularity also worked as a positive catalyst in widening the betting business in India and throughout the world. They boosted the industry by featuring famous sportspeople patronizing a particular app or website promoting sports betting. Various such websites provide precise forecasts, thus making it easy for the players to gamble.

Is there any chance for sports betting to be legal in India?

There are no restrictions against using online betting services operated from countries outside India where betting is legal. This is because sports betting is not a legalized sector of business in India if the sites allowing betting are non-Indian, it can be considered lawful.

But India soon must walk on the path of legalizing the betting business. That would open new business doors as the number of sports enthusiasts interested in betting is on the rise considerably. Age is not a restriction in this industry as people, beginning from teenagers to the elderly retired people, love sports betting in the same way. Everyone loves to take a chance, test their analytical skills in the sport, and participate in betting. Of course, there are platforms to help with live cricket IPL betting rates where interested people can see what rates are going on.

The prominent market attracts the international betting industry.

Post lockdown using the internet from home for work or leisure has increased significantly. The Indian internet infrastructure has also strengthened, allowing millions of Indians to use fast-speed internet services with ease at home. India is now considered the second-largest internet access country. With around 744 million people simultaneously using the internet, the international betting industry considers it a sizable prospective market.

Bettors are now moving to online sports betting, looking at the ease and soaring profit. Moreover, it is less time-consuming as moving from one particular bookie to another is done in seconds. It also allows them to try multiple bets in a single match.

Promotion and marketing

Nowadays, advertisements related to betting fill up the sports channels, which brings more traffic. Continuous promotions of these websites or apps during a critical match attract considerable bettors.

Various betting site show the live cricket Satta rates and provide free tips for good betting. However, in the case of cricket, it is essential to understand the cricket betting odds. In a game, the bettor predicts that a specific outcome will happen. Therefore, a bettor needs to understand or have an instinct about the odds to make a good profit.
