UTTAR PRADESH (India CSR): REC Limited, a Maharatna CPSE under the Ministry of Power and a leading non-banking financial company (NBFC), has announced a significant commitment to healthcare under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The company signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Sevarth Sansthan Seth Bimal Kumar Jain Trauma & Physiotherapy Dharmarth Samiti (SSB) to provide ₹14 crore for the procurement of a Linear Accelerator (LINAC) machine for advanced cancer treatment.
1 Enhancing Cancer Treatment with Advanced Technology
The LINAC machine will be installed at the Trauma Centre established by SSB in the Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh. This cutting-edge technology enables precise and effective treatment of various cancers, including those affecting the brain, spine, head and neck, lung, breast, and more.
“Access to advanced medical equipment like the LINAC machine will revolutionize cancer care in Firozabad and nearby areas, making treatment more accessible to underserved communities,” said Shri Vivek Kumar Dewangan, Chairman and Managing Director of REC Limited.
2 A Step Toward Community Health and Well-Being
The agreement was formalized on 27th December 2024, with REC’s Executive Director (CSR), Shri Pradeep Fellows, and SSB President, Shri P.K. Jindal, signing the MoA. The ceremony was attended by senior officials and dignitaries, reflecting the importance of this collaboration in advancing healthcare infrastructure.
The initiative aligns with REC Limited’s commitment to promoting health and well-being in India. “REC is dedicated to nation-building by supporting impactful projects that address critical community needs, such as healthcare, education, and rural development,” added Shri Dewangan.
3 REC’s Legacy in Corporate Social Responsibility
REC Limited has been at the forefront of CSR initiatives, funding over 400 projects in diverse areas such as healthcare, sanitation, education, and environmental sustainability. The company has disbursed Rs 1,300 crore in CSR funds, with cumulative commitments exceeding ₹2,000 crore.

- Funding clean water and sanitation initiatives.
- Supporting women’s health and empowerment programs.

4 LINAC: A Game-Changer in Cancer Treatment
The Linear Accelerator (LINAC) machine is one of the most advanced tools in cancer treatment. It delivers high-energy X-rays or electrons directly to a tumor, minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue. LINAC is effective for treating complex cancers, such as those in the brain, spine, and liver, offering hope to thousands of patients.
