Solar – Based Energy Storage System contributed by Viviid Emissions Reductions Universal Private Limited will now help power Jaisalmer’s Rajkumari Ratnavati Girls’ School of CITTA Education Foundation India!

Kanoi, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan: CITTA Education Foundation India, headquartered in New Delhi, is pleased to recognize a generous contribution from Viviid Emissions Reductions Universal Private Limited, based in Mumbai. As part of its corporate social responsibility initiative, Viviid Emissions Reductions Universal Private Limited has provided a one-time grant to establish and operate a 16kWp solar power-based battery energy storage system and inverter at the Rajkumari Ratnavati Girls’ School managed and run by CITTA Education Foundation India at Kanoi village, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The project will ensure reliable off-grid solar power supply to the school, an initiative to facilitate girl child education and women empowerment in the area.

CITTA India

CITTA India aims to channelize the energy of art, education, and culture to help end poverty. It takes a localized approach that harnesses the power of local cultural history and community ties to bring education, equality, and economic opportunity to everyone in our partner communities. It is working in mission mode to increase gender parity in one of India’s most challenging regions for women and girls. Situated at Kanoi village in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan The project focuses on girls’ education and women empowerment to address the systemic gender inequalities and improve women and child development indicators in the villages of Sam, Salkha, and Kanoi. The Project has three core pillars – Rajkumari Ratnavati Girls School, Women’s Cooperative and Economic Development Center, and Medha Hall – a Textile Museum and Global Exhibition Center. The award-winning school was inaugurated in November 2021 and became fully functional in February 2022, while the work on the other two Centers is ongoing.

Viviid Emissions Reductions Universal Private Limited

Viviid Emissions Reductions Universal Private Limited has earned an irreproachable reputation as a Globally Credible Carbon Management Firm over the last two decades. It services Renewable Energy Clients upstream, and Climate Action Oriented Global Carbon Credit Buyers downstream with equal proficiency. Viviid Emissions Reductions firmly believes that Sustainability can only be achieved when honest concern for people matches pace with equally honest concern for the planet. In an official statement issued by Viviid Emissions Reductions Universal Private Limited, the Organization’s CEO Mr. Puneet Katyal said, “We feel humbled to support this cause that will positively impact girls’ education in Sam Block of Jaisalmer District and will also contribute to women empowerment. Our team has been in touch with His Highness Maharawal of Jaisalmer Shri. Chaitanya Raj Singh Ji (Director of CITTA Education Foundation India) and his team to understand the gap at Rajkumari Ratnavati Girls’ School carefully. We owe a responsibility towards the communities residing in and around Kanoi village in Jaisalmer. The school is surrounded by clean/renewable energy projects belonging to our esteemed clients. For as long as we continue to exist, power outage will be the last obstacle in the way of Girls’ Education at Rajkumari Ratnavati School. This is my word.”

Significance of this collaboration

The grant from Viviid Emissions Reductions Universal Private Limited will enable reliable, uninterrupted, and affordable supply of electricity and water to the school. Reliable electricity supply is crucial for the proposed computer center, and women empowerment activities at Rajkumari Ratnavati Girls School to operate smoothly. Mr. Chaitanya Raj Singh, Board of Director of CITTA India added, “This collaboration will further empower young girls and women in Jaisalmer, and provide a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for them to thrive. Harnessing renewable energy is integral to the sustainability-centric approach with which our project has been designed. We believe solar power is the present and the future of a cleaner and more climate-friendly world. At CITTA India, in collaboration with Viviid Emissions Reductions Universal Private Limited, we are glad to take an important step in this direction.”

The challenges CITTA India and Viviid Emissions Reductions Universal Private Limited are solving together at Kanoi

The harsh and remote desert region, in which the school is situated, is still far from getting 24X7 reliable electricity supply. In summer months, it gets about 12-14 hours of supply, which reduces to 8-10 hours during monsoon and 4-6 hours during winter months. Power cuts are frequent, uneven, and often unannounced. The school has been designed with sustainability as a core principle. This ensures adequate natural lighting and optimal room temperature during the daytime for the Ratnavati School. The campus already has an installed capacity of 15kW solar panels connected to the grid to generate power and supply the excess electricity to the grid, with the objective of using clean energy, reducing carbon emissions, and minimizing the electricity bill.

However, solar energy is intermittent in nature, and cannot be available at all times as desired. Poor and irregular availability of electricity in the region creates impediments for water coolers, washrooms, the digital library, the proposed computer center, and other facilities at the campus. With a battery energy storage system in place, these impediments will soon be a thing of the past. This would ensure uninterrupted supply of water to the school complex for drinking as well as sanitation purposes. It would also ensure that digital education and computer centers continue without hiatuses.
