CHHATTISGARH (India CSR): In a significant move to accelerate development in Chhattisgarh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple projects worth Rs 33,700 crore in Bilaspur on 30th March 2025. The projects span across power, oil & gas, railways, roads, education, and housing sectors, aiming to strengthen infrastructure, improve connectivity, and uplift livelihoods in the state.
Power Sector Gets a Major Upgrade
Chhattisgarh, already a power hub, is set to enhance its electricity generation and transmission capabilities. PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for NTPC’s Sipat Super Thermal Power Project Stage-III (1×800 MW), worth Rs 9,790 crore, which will use advanced Ultra-Supercritical Technology for higher efficiency. Additionally, the commencement of Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited’s (CSPGCL) First Super Critical Thermal Power Project (2×660 MW), valued at Rs 15,800 crore, will further boost the state’s energy security.
To ensure seamless power distribution, three Power Transmission projects under POWERGRID’s Western Region Expansion Scheme (WRES), worth Rs 560 crore, will also be dedicated to the nation.
Clean Energy and Fuel Infrastructure Expansion
Aligned with India’s net-zero emission goals, the PM will launch key oil and gas projects:
- City Gas Distribution (CGD) project by BPCL in Korea, Surajpur, Balrampur, and Surguja districts (Rs 1,285 crore), including over 200 km of high-pressure pipelines and 800 km of MDPE pipelines.
- Visakh-Raipur Pipeline (VRPL) Project by HPCL, a 540 km multi-product pipeline with a capacity of 3 Million Metric Tonnes Per Annum (Rs 2,210 crore).
These initiatives will ensure cleaner fuel access, reduce pollution, and enhance industrial growth.
Rail and Road Connectivity Boost for Tribal & Industrial Regions
To improve mobility and economic growth, PM Modi will:
- Lay the foundation stone for seven new railway projects (108 km) and dedicate three completed projects (111 km), totaling Rs 2,690 crore.
- Flag off a MEMU train service in the Abhanpur-Raipur section via Mandir Hasaud.
- Dedicate 100% electrification of Chhattisgarh’s rail network, reducing carbon footprint and improving efficiency.
In road infrastructure, key projects include:
- Upgradation of Jhalmala-Sherpar (NH-930, 37 km) and Ambikapur-Pathalgaon (NH-43, 75 km) to 2-lane with paved shoulders.
- Foundation stone for Kondagaon-Narayanpur (NH-130D, 47.5 km) upgrade (Rs 1,270 crore).
These projects will enhance connectivity in tribal and industrial belts, fostering economic opportunities.
Education and Housing: Building a Stronger Future
PM Modi will dedicate 130 PM SHRI Schools across 29 districts, equipped with smart classrooms, modern labs, and digital learning tools. Additionally, the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) in Raipur will enable real-time monitoring of education schemes.
Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G), 3 lakh beneficiaries will receive houses, with PM Modi handing over keys to select recipients. This initiative aims to provide secure and hygienic living conditions for rural families.
