MUMBAI (India CSR): Piramal Pharma Limited (PPL), a leading global pharmaceutical company, has released its FY2025 Sustainability Report, outlining measurable progress in governance, operations, and social impact under the theme “Innovating Responsibly. Growing Sustainably.”
The report, externally assured by DNV, focuses on four pillars — Business Resilience, Quality & Excellence, Responsible Operations, and Stakeholder Centricity.
Governance & Business Resilience
PPL said that 50% of its Board members are independent directors and 30% are women, exceeding statutory requirements. The company reported zero data breaches and achieved 100% compliance with Code of Conduct training. Sustainability assessments were conducted for 26.5% of critical suppliers, with capacity building targeted for 30% by FY2026.
Quality & Excellence
The pharma major successfully completed 36 global regulatory inspections, including two by the USFDA, and 165 customer audits. Customer satisfaction scores stood at 85% in CDMO/PPS and 87% in Critical Care/PCC. The company accelerated digital transformation through Catalyst NxGen (S/4HANA) and deployed 17 governance dashboards.
Climate Action & Responsible Operations
The company achieved a 6% reduction in Scope 1 & 2 emissions year-on-year and a 7.8% rise in renewable energy use, with 20.2% of its total energy coming from bioenergy. It reported zero hazardous waste to landfill, with a 90% recycling target for non-hazardous waste.
PPL saved 2.1 lakh kilolitres of freshwater through stewardship initiatives and planted 2,000+ saplings, maintaining 30% green cover at Indian sites. A significant decarbonisation step included converting its Digwal facility’s coal boiler to renewable biomass briquettes.
Stakeholder Centricity & Inclusion
Women now represent 20% of PPL’s global workforce, with a 2.7% YoY increase. Women also accounted for 63.3% of campus hires. The company achieved a 45% improvement in Lost Time Injury Rate (LTIR), reducing it to 0.05.
CSR & Community Engagement
Through the Piramal Foundation, PPL advanced CSR programmes across 112 aspirational districts, impacting over 200 million people. The company invested Rs.5.34 crore in FY2025 for education, health, and women empowerment, including school upgrades and safe water initiatives. Employee volunteering contributed via plantation drives, health awareness campaigns, and skill-building programmes.
