As cities increasingly deal with the challenges of air pollution, traffic congestion and climate pressures, initiatives such as Pedal for the Planet have become increasingly relevant. Now in its 10th edition, the flagship event by the Embassy Group in Bengaluru aims to highlight how small lifestyle choices such as choosing a cycle can contribute towards environmental change.
Why It Matters
While cycling alone cannot solve the challenges of climate change, it offers a simple and accessible step toward cleaner air and healthier cities. The event’s purpose is to highlight that sustainability often begins with small, everyday decisions and that collective participation can create momentum for change.
This year’s edition once again brings together families, professional cyclists, amateurs, and first-time riders. The ride is designed to be inclusive and engaging, encouraging people of all ages to participate. With an informal and community-driven atmosphere, there are opportunities for dialogue and shared experiences around sustainable living.

Extending the Impact
Beyond the ride itself, Pedal for the Planet supports tangible causes. Proceeds from the event go to Colours of Life, a non-profit providing education support for underprivileged children. Over the past decade, the initiative has also included a tree-planting programme, with one tree planted for every registration, adding to Bengaluru’s green cover.
Efforts have been made to keep the event as eco-friendly as possible. Measures include avoiding single-use plastics, providing filtered water in matkas, waste segregation for composting and recycling, and using an electric lead vehicle to guide the ride.
Reflecting on the milestone, Emanda Vaz, Country Head – Marketing and PR, Embassy Developments Limited, said, “Pedal for the Planet is about more than cycling, encouraging healthier and more sustainable choices, while also giving back to the community. As we mark its 10th year, we are pleased to see how the event continues to grow in relevance and participation.”

Pedal for the Planet reflects the Group’s ongoing efforts towards sustainable development and its intent to support communities around where it operates. In addition, the event aims to bring together people from across neighbourhoods, business parks and residential communities with a shared interest in greener mobility.
Looking Ahead
As the 10th edition unfolds, the emphasis remains on participation and awareness. Pedal for the Planet is less about competitive cycling and more about what the ride represents: a reminder that sustainability can be woven into daily choices and that collective action has value.
