NEW DELHI: At a national level science exhibition organized by CBSE at Modern School Barakhamba road, New Delhi from 21-22 Oct, the model of O.P. Jindal school, Patratu (JH), promoted by Jindal Steel & power, got selected at national level which is the only model got selected from Jharkhand state.
The model was made on the Flood management focusing on resolving the menace of flood of Bihar and draught of Jharkhand along with quenching the underground fire of coal mines and using abandoned open cast mines as alternative water reservoirs.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Minister of HRD GOI Mr. Kapil Sibal and prizes were given away by Mr. Sudarshan Rao Joint Secretary CBSE, New Delhi.
Every year CBSE, New Delhi organizes Science Exhibitions at two levels- one at regional level where only 15 models are forwarded for next national level after a high level of scrutiny by renowned scientists.
Out of total 180 models forwarded from different regions of the country this year only 20 models got certificate of merit at national level and O.P. Jindal School, Patratu (JH) is one of them.
The model got appreciation from every corner. It is to be noted that The Chief Minister of Jharkhand Mr. Arjun Munda in course of his visit to the school interacted with the participating students namely Avinash Dwivedi, Kashid Islam and Kanishka Raj, all from std X and highly appreciated the concept of the model. The concept of the model was the brain-child of Ms. Shubhra Thakur the Principal supported by Mr Sanjay Sinha the administrator and well executed by Mr Gautam Hazra the PGT (Chem) under the able guidance of the Chairman of the School cum Plant Head JSPL Mr. Sanjay Sharma.
