
MUMBAI: Global IT conglomerate Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has set a new benchmark in gender diversity. TCS is today one of the world’s largest employer of women. TCS has 1,34,542 permanent women employees which represent 34.7% (One third) of its total permanent work force i.e. 3,87,223 as on March 31, 2017., revealed Annual Report, 2016-17.

“The Company has employees from 130 nationalities and is one of the largest employers of women, who constitute 34.7% of our global workforce. The Company had 387,223 employees across 55 countries, as on March 31, 2017, added report.
65 complaints of sexual harassment has registered, of which four are pending, it said. TCS has employed 525 persons with Disabilities. Only 0.02% permanent employees are members of this recognized employee association recognized by the TCS management.
Promoting Women’s Empowerment
“TCS celebrated the second anniversary of its all-women BPS and IT Centre at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The center employs over 1,000 women, of which 85% are local hires. This innovative socio-economic development model promotes long-term career opportunities for Saudi women.”, report said.

Compensation levels are merit-based, determined by qualification, experience levels, special skills if any, and performance. This has allowed us to bring down our dependence on work visas significantly.”, TCS said.
