Partners with local authorities in Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Mangaluru

MUMBAI: Ola, a transportation platform, flagged off a cleanliness drive to create awareness and encourage citizens to do their bit for ‘Swachh Bharat’ on 1st October. The on-ground cleanliness drive was carried out in Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Mangaluru. More than 300 Ola employees and driver partners participated in the drive at The High Court Junction in Kochi, Thycaud Women & Children Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram and Wenlock Govt Hospital in Mangaluru.
Speaking about the initiative, Kiran Brahma, Regional Business Head at Ola, said, “We are proud to contribute to the overall ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ in our own small way. Initiatives like these fall in line with our endeavour to create cleaner and greener cities. While we are constantly working towards creating smart and sustainable mobility solutions to strengthen the existing transport ecosystem in the country, it is pivotal to understand and contribute towards the holistic development of our cities. We are thankful to all our driver-partners who have participated in this drive, and would like express our gratitude to the local authorities in Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Mangaluru for lending their support to Ola by participating in the drive.”
Speaking on Ola’s participation, JR Lobo, MLA, Mangalore South Constituency said, “Mangaluru is developing at a fast pace; and over the years, the state has earned the position of being one of the cleanest and most favourable destinations for business in the country. It is of paramount importance that the government along with the citizens and corporates operating in the state continue to do their bit and actively participate in the holistic development of the state. We would like to appreciate Ola for organizing this cleanliness drive at such a huge scale. Drives like these have far reaching benefits and play key role in creating awareness around the importance of maintaining cleaner and greener cities.”
In Kochi, Ola partnered with the Kochi Municipal Corporation for the on-ground cleanliness and the activity was carried out in presence of Smt. Soumini Jain, Mayor, Kochi Municipal Corporation. Ola also worked with local bodies in Thiruvananthapuram and Mangaluru, to drive the ‘Swachh Bharat’ initiative. Shri Rajeev Puthalath, Joint Transport Commissioner & Secretary, STA initiated the drive in Thiruvananthapuram and JR Lobo, MLA, Mangalore South Constituency participated in the drive in Mangaluru.
This year marks the second anniversary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan”. The mission covers over 4000 cities and towns where multiple activities are being undertaken to ensure clean streets, roads and infrastructure.
