NMDC Steel Limited operates with a capacity of 3.0 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) in Chhattisgarh
RAIPUR (India CSR): NMDC Steel Limited (NSL), India’s youngest and technologically advanced integrated steel plant, has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first company in the country to receive the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) license for “Hot Rolled Steel Strip, Sheet, and Plates for Welded Steel Pipe for Pipeline Transportation Systems – General Requirements (IS 18384:2023).”
BIS Honors NMDC Steel on World Standards Day
The certification was conferred by the Bureau of Indian Standards during the World Standards Day 2025 celebration organized by BIS Raipur at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in Raipur. The BIS license was presented to Amrit Narayan, Chief General Manager (Steel), NMDC Steel, by Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Vishnu Deo Sai, in the presence of Minister of Food & Civil Supplies Dayal Das Baghel and S.K. Gupta, Director & Head, BIS Raipur.

The IS 18384:2023 certification establishes a new benchmark for Indian steel products designed for the pipeline transportation industry.
