CSR initiative delivers modern classrooms, kitchen, and dining hall for 142 students in rural Odisha
ODISHA (India CSR): In a significant step toward strengthening rural education, NAVA Limited Odisha Operations has inaugurated a newly constructed school building at Mahadeo Ram Upper Primary Government School in Kharagprasad, Odapada block, Dhenkanal district, Odisha. The initiative, implemented under the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, aims to provide a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment for students in Classes VI to VIII.
The inauguration was attended by notable dignitaries, including Sudhir Kumar Samal (Ex-MLA, Dhenkanal), Gangadhar Samal, Binita Senapati (District Education Officer, Dhenkanal), Dillip Kumar Sarangi (Block Development Officer, Odapada), Sabitri Dalai (Sarpanch, Kharagprasad Panchayat), and V. Raja Sekhar (Vice President – Odisha Operations, Retd. Rear Admiral), among others.
Addressing Infrastructure Gaps
Until recently, the school faced challenges due to limited infrastructure. With just two classrooms, students were often crammed into small spaces, hampering both comfort and learning outcomes. Mid-Day Meals were prepared without a proper kitchen, while children had to eat under trees — a practice unsafe and unhygienic.
The new school building transforms this scenario with:
- A spacious classroom to ease overcrowding
- A well-equipped kitchen for Mid-Day Meal preparation
- A dedicated dining hall offering hygienic and safe meal spaces
- Office space for teaching staff to improve administration and support
This development directly impacts the school’s 142 enrolled students, offering them not only better facilities but also dignity in education.
Inspiring Learning Through Visual Aids
Beyond infrastructure, NAVA Limited has thoughtfully enriched the learning atmosphere by decorating walls with inspirational messages and educational illustrations.
- Portraits and quotes of great leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, and Utkalamani Madhusudan Das now adorn the walls, motivating students to dream big.
- Educational depictions like the solar system, water cycle, and recycling processes provide visual learning aids, sparking curiosity and creativity among young learners.
