MUMBAI: Ramdas Bandu Athawale, Hon’ble Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India will be chief guest at India CSR Leadership Summit & Awards being organized by India CSR Network on 26 May 2017 at Hotel Sahara Star, Mumbai. He will grace the inaugural session of the India CSR Leadership Summit & Awards and address the delegates.
Powerful politician Ramdas Athawale is in the Narendra Modi government, and represents Maharashtra in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of India’s Parliament. He has been a three-time Lok Sabha member.
A Dalit Buddhist, he is the founder–leader of the Republican Party of India, an Ambedkarite party. He was member of Maharashtra Legislative Council form 1990 to 1995 and position of Cabinet Minister for Employment Guarantee Scheme and Prohibition Propaganda, Social Welfare and Transport in the Government of Maharashtra. In 2014, Athawale was elected to the upper house of Parliament, Rajya Sabha. His induction into the Modi government is part of BJP’s endeavor to reach out to the politically crucial segment ahead of elections to five States. Athawale has been a trade unionist and is known more for his blunt remarks speeches both inside and outside the Parliament. He has been part of NDA since 2011 after he quit the NCP-Congress alliance.
Ramdas Athawle, calling himself the fearless panther of India, the 57-year-old leader claims to have led the Dalit Panther Movement, a social movement for equality, justice and human rights world-wide. Athawale also edited Bhumika, a weekly magazine in Mumbai, and has been a publisher for Parivartan Publications.
About the Summit
The day long forum will witness vibrant political leaders, CSR think tanks, thinkers, social reformers and Govt. officials. It would be one of the biggest CSR knowledge and idea sharing forum in the year 2017.
More than 15 corporate leaders, CSR think tanks and NGO leaders will be participating in the summit to share their CSR vision for the progress of the country. Fourm is expecting around 300 eminent corporate leaders, CSR think tanks, NGO leaders, academicians, Government Officers, social workers, implementing agencies from across the country, who will grace the summit to express their commitment and solidarity to the cause of inclusive development and to listen to these stalwarts.
The forum is an active congregation in this noble mission to support and create effective forum to discuss various contemporary socio-economic issues. One of the key focus in this Summit would be to put forth the new CSR agenda for national development.
The features of the forum include: Keynote Address, launching of Book on CSR Practices of Award Winning Corporate and NGOs, launching of CSR books by various authors, India CSR Awards for CSR Innovations, Exhibition and Partnership and Networking Tables and 300 leaders from more than 200 organizations. Leading corporates will be honoured for their outstanding contributions to the national progress in the domain of CSR at the forum.
