NEW DELHI (India CSR): Today, as we celebrate World Environment Day, Rachna Dave, CEO and Founder of MicroGO, shares her insightful views on the interdependency of environmental, human, and animal health and the crucial role businesses can play.
Dave underscores the integrated concept of One Health, stating, “It’s imperative for businesses and enterprises to focus on the interdependence of human, animal, and environmental health for overall well-being. Environmental changes have created opportunities for the emergence of new diseases transmitted by vectors, viruses, and bacteria.”
Citing the example of the novel coronavirus, Dave pointed out how microorganisms can mutate in response to changes in the environment. This emphasizes the need for resistance, antibodies, and vaccines to combat infections effectively, which unfortunately were lacking when the pandemic hit.
Highlighting MicroGO’s commitment to environmental health, she said, “We incorporate green chemistry into our research and development processes and the manufacturing of compounds. Our goal is to ensure a green chemistry approach throughout the entire process, not just in the final product.”
MicroGO also acknowledges the practical considerations in their operations, such as the use of plastic containers for transportation due to their durability. However, the company actively promotes recycling and takes responsibility for recycling these containers or reusing them whenever possible.
This year, the company has implemented additional initiatives to reinforce its commitment to environmental sustainability. Among their standout products, one stands out for not only promoting sustainability but also conserving water and reducing carbon emissions.
“In collaboration with a hotel chain client, MicroGO has reduced 3,220 Kgs of carbon emissions and saved 85,986.6 litres of water within six months of engagement,” Dave proudly shares.
Today’s message from the MicroGO CEO serves as a timely reminder for all businesses to prioritize environmental health and take active steps towards sustainability. The choices we make today will shape the health of our planet and its inhabitants for generations to come.
