The visionary initiative is led by Deputy Commissioner, EJH, Shri Abhilash Baranwal Ji, to empower teachers with smart classes in schools.
In a felicitation held on 7th August 2023, the Honourable Education Minister of Meghalaya, Shri Rakkam Sangma Ji, praised the visionary efforts behind ‘Ka Lawei. Highlighting the the program’s milestones, he revealed that a total of 50 schools in the region are equipped with smart TV digital content. The enthusiasm from students, teachers, as well as parents stands as a testament to its adoption and efficiency.

Commencement of Project
Launched in August 2022 as a pilot across 20 schools, Project Ka Lawei swiftly expanded to 30 more schools in the subsequent phase of the project in January 2023. Currently, 166 classrooms are equipped with iPrep Digital Class, seamlessly facilitating the transition from textbooks to animated lessons, syllabus books, practice, notes, and other digital content for classes 6th to 12th. The availability of easy-to-comprehend multi-category MBOSE-aligned digital content is enhancing learning experiences for students and teachers.

Effective Implementation
The project followed a systematic approach involving:
- Implementation of iPrep Digital Class, experiential teacher training on the use and navigation of iPrep App, followed by a detailed understanding of content and its categories for optimum use of smart classes.
- Teachers are also trained to align digital teaching with their lesson plans.
- A baseline assessment is conducted for over 5000 students using tablets to understand their current learning levels.
- Comprehensive Bridge Course has been prepared for each school by studying their academic plans and baseline assessment results, addressing learning gaps.
Marking 1 Year of Project Ka Lawei with Teacher Felicitation Programme
Central to the success of ‘Ka Lawei’ is the dedicated commitment of teachers who wholeheartedly embraced the concept of smart classes. Nine teachers from different schools in East Jaiñtia Hills district were felicitated for their performance in the implementation of ‘Ka Lawei’ digital project.
During the felicitation, the Education Minister, Shri Rakkam A Sangma Ji, said that the government is dedicated to improving the education system and making it one of the best in the country and urged stakeholders to work together to improve the overall education scenario in the state.
