What is Gemini and why the name change?
Gemini is the new name for Bard, the online platform that lets you collaborate with Google AI on various tasks and projects. We decided to rename Bard to Gemini to better reflect our commitment to giving everyone direct access to Google’s best family of AI models. Gemini means “twin” in Latin, and it symbolizes the idea of a human-AI partnership that can achieve more than either one alone.
Gemini still has all the collaborative capabilities you know and love from Bard, and will keep getting better in the Gemini era. We’ve also evolved the user interface to reduce visual distractions, improve legibility, and simplify the navigation. We hope you enjoy the new look and feel of Gemini.
