Leena Verenkar was appointed as the Head of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for Vedanta on October 1, 2019.
In addition to her responsibilities in this role, she has also been the Head of CSR for the Sesa Iron Ore business since 2015 and has provided CSR leadership for the iron and steel sector since April 2021.
Prior to this, she held the position of Head of CSR for Iron Ore Goa since 2010. Ms. Verenkar began her career with the company in 1996 as an environment management and compliance specialist, and led the environment team for 13 years.
She has over 25 years of experience in environment management, community relations, advocacy, and public relations. She holds a Master’s degree in Microbiology from Goa University and in Ecology and Environment from Bhopal University, India.
She was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship by the US Foundation in India and a LEAD Fellowship by Lead India. In 2017, she was recognized as “Women Leader of the Year” by the Economic Times and was listed among the “100 Most Impactful CSR Leaders” by World CSR. She received the Great Manager’s Award in 2019.
