Kotak Mahindra Bank Transfers Rs 44.54 Crore to Unspent CSR Account in FY25

NEW DELHI (India CSR): Kotak Mahindra Bank has reaffirmed its commitment to social responsibility in FY 2024-25 by fully meeting its mandated Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) spend while also addressing the challenge of unutilised funds.

According to the bank’s latest annual disclosures, the standalone mandated CSR expenditure stood at Rs 285.5 crore. The bank reported an actual CSR spend of Rs 285.7 crore, covering project funding, administrative costs, and impact assessments.

After adjusting a Rs 1.99 crore set-off from the previous financial year, the effective CSR obligation came to Rs 283.54 crore. Of this, Rs 236.44 crore was directed towards projects, Rs 3.55 crore for administrative overheads, and Rs 1.21 crore for impact assessments.

Rs 44.54 Crore Moved to Unspent CSR Account

Despite meeting its statutory requirements, Kotak Mahindra Bank reported an unspent CSR balance of Rs 44.54 crore for ongoing projects. In line with regulatory provisions, this amount was transferred to the ‘Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited Unspent CSR Account FY 2024-25’ on April 28, 2025. The bank has assured that the funds will be utilised within the stipulated timelines as per CSR rules.

In addition, an excess CSR expenditure of Rs 2.20 crore incurred during FY 2024-25 will be carried forward and set off against future CSR obligations.

Sector-Wise CSR Allocations

The Kotak Mahindra Group as a whole allocated Rs 389.3 crore towards CSR in FY 2024-25. The spending (excluding overheads and assessments) was distributed across key areas:

  • Education & Livelihood: Rs 136.1 crore
  • Healthcare: Rs 89.3 crore
  • Environment & Sustainable Development: Rs 36.8 crore
  • Relief & Rehabilitation: Rs 16.0 crore
  • Sports Development: Rs 2.8 crore

These allocations highlight the bank’s continued focus on education, healthcare, and sustainable development.

Long-Term Community Assets

A notable highlight of the bank’s CSR spend was the creation of 37 community assets, including medical equipment, digital classrooms, and ambulances. The Kotak-IISc AI-ML Centre project alone received a significant disbursement of Rs 35.35 crore during the year.

Balancing Growth and Responsibility

While reporting a consolidated PAT of Rs 22,125.99 crore for FY 2024-25, Kotak Mahindra Bank emphasised its belief that financial growth must go hand-in-hand with sustainable development.

The bank also received recognition for its ESG performance, being ranked among India’s top sustainable companies in the banking sector.
