Pune – Marriott International’s luxury hotel chain JW Marriott teamed-up with not-for-profit organization – Soroptimist International Pune Metro East to host a march for ‘Global warming is a global warming’ on 30 Jun.
The march was organised to show solidarity with the cause for mitigating climate and adopting measures to protect the environment.
Major General Navneet Kumar, general officer commanding (GOC) Dakshin Maharashtra and Gujarat, flagged-off the march. The event witnessed about five hundred participants including school children from Pune and Ahmednagar, NCC Cadets, AFMC Cadets, environmental activists and concerned citizens.
Students also performed street plays and expressed their concern about the future of our planet.
Climate change and its consequences are more relevant today than ever before and JW Marriott recognises the need for sustainability and are committed to care for the environment, Vineet Mishra, general manager at the Pune property said.
It provided refreshments for all the participants
Soroptimist works in the ares of women empowerment and environment conservation.
Meanwhile, premier manufacturer of latex and latex-free elastic rubber products Garware Bestretch Ltd provided caps to the participants.
