JSW Steel Limited has strengthened its commitment to inclusive growth by peacefully resolving issues with villagers in Naharpali, Raigarh.
RAIGARH (Chhattisgarh) (India CSR): JSW Steel Limited has concluded a peaceful dialogue with the villagers of Naharpali in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh, addressing long-pending concerns over rehabilitation and employment. The meeting, held in collaboration with the local administration on Tuesday, is being seen as a significant step in the company’s efforts toward inclusive development and responsible industrialization.
The company said it will ensure development reaches all, believing true progress is inclusive.
According to the company official, the engagement was conducted in a transparent and respectful manner, with both sides acknowledging each other’s perspectives. JSW officials said the discussions recognised the legitimacy of the villagers’ demands and aimed to arrive at a mutually acceptable solution.
Following a review of applications submitted by eligible residents, JSW Steel agreed to extend employment opportunities under its rehabilitation policy. The company said this move was in line with its values of fairness and inclusivity, ensuring that those affected by industrial projects are integrated into the economic progress they help facilitate.
The agreement brought an end to a recent protest by the villagers and, according to JSW, has helped strengthen trust between the community and the company. “By prioritising dialogue over confrontation, we have demonstrated that industrial growth and community satisfaction can go hand-in-hand,” the company said in a statement.
The role of the local administration, particularly the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and Sub-Divisional Police Officer, was described as “instrumental” in facilitating the discussions and ensuring a peaceful resolution. JSW said the cooperation of government authorities underscored the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration in addressing sensitive matters.
Reiterating its commitment to regional development, JSW Steel stated that the welfare of affected families will remain central to its operations in Raigarh. The company said its growth strategy aligns with principles of sustainability, equity, and empowerment.
“Proactive engagement with communities and delivering on commitments is part of our corporate responsibility,” the statement said, adding that such initiatives lay the foundation for long-term, harmonious relationships in operational areas.
JSW Steel maintained that the resolution in Naharpali, 20 KM from Raigarh district headquarter, was not just a matter of addressing immediate concerns but a reaffirmation of its broader role as a partner in nation-building. The company said it will continue to ensure that the benefits of industrial growth are equitably shared, with development reaching “every family, every community, and every corner of the nation.”
